Omuga Kabisae: Drama at ex-KBC broadcaster's funeral as mum-in-law complains about disrespect, food
- Legendary broadcaster Charles Omuga Kabisae was buried at his home on Saturday, September 13, 2025
- Drama ensued at the funeral when Kabisae's mother-in-law accused his kin of disrespecting her family
- As captured in a viral video, she complained that her people from Seme had not been acknowledged or offered food at the burial
The late legendary broadcaster Charles Omuga Kabisae, a former KBC radio announcer, was laid to rest on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at his home in Buoye, Kisumu East.

The funeral attracted a large number of friends, relatives, former colleagues, and locals, all coming together to pay their respects to the late Kabisae, a respected figure in the broadcasting industry.
However, what should have been a sombre occasion took a dramatic turn when a woman, who introduced herself as the mother-in-law of the late broadcaster, raised concerns about the alleged treatment of Kabisae's in-laws during the burial.
The woman, upset, expressed her dissatisfaction with how the family from Seme, where Kabisae's widow, Maureen, hails from, had been allegedly treated.
Why was Omuga Kabisae's mother-in-law angry?
Speaking out during the ceremony, she said:
“I won’t say much because we are deeply emotional. The truth is, our daughter has buried your son, but you didn't recognise her people from Seme. What disrespect! Omuga married his wife from my house when I lived in Manyatta. We loved her so much, and even her father was against her marriage to Omuga. You can't disrespect us. Why do you disrespect us? Did this lady (Omuga's wife) fall from a tree? My brown daughter, did she come from a tree? Don’t joke with us. Her father will not speak here. We arrived here in the morning, but have not even been offered water to drink. We are hungry. Are you listening to me?"
Her comments, which were captured in a video shared on TikTok by Pashwa TV, ignited reactions on social media.

"We will finish this thing of eating at funerals."
Millie Nelima:
"Being a Luhya married in Luo land, I have always seen them treat my family very highly when they attend functions where I'm married. If it's a misunderstanding, I hope they can make peace for the sake of continuity."
Sue:
"Why is she being put under pressure? Woman, be strong, may the good Lord be with you."
sugar fel:
"Luo funerals are something else...kama si vita ya chakula ni vita ya entitlement."
Jackims Muga:
"Congratulations bibi ya Omuga Kabisae what an intelligent woman."
How did KBC mourn Omuga Kabisae?
As previously reported, KBC gave a heartfelt homage to the broadcaster after his death.

On social media, the national broadcaster posted a vintage video of Kabisae announcing obituaries and special reports.
"Yafuatayo ni matangazo maalum pamoja na ya vifo. Kwanza tunaanza na matangazo maalum. Jina langu ni Kabisae Omuga (Next is special and death announcements. We are starting with special announcements. My name is Omuga Kabisae)," he would say during his segment.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, the signature was famous as the deceased radio host would make special and death announcements on the station.
