Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has declared support for the upcoming 2025 Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law Annual Conference, scheduled to hold in Uyo from December 1 to 5.

The governor made this pledge during a recent breakfast meeting with the NBA-SPIDEL delegation led by its Chairman, Prof. Paul Ananaba (SAN), at the Government House, Uyo.

The delegation was in the state to brief the governor on preparations for the conference.

Eno commended SPIDEL for choosing Uyo as the host city and assured that the state government would provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the 2025 conference.

“We appreciate this honour, and I want to assure the NBA-SPIDEL leadership that Akwa Ibom will give its full support to the successful hosting of this important national event,” he said.

Speaking further, Eno described Akwa Ibom as a fast-emerging hub for tourism, investment, and intellectual engagement, noting that the state is developing infrastructure that can host major national and international events, including future NBA Annual Conferences.

Eno said, “We are building facilities that meet global standards so that Akwa Ibom can continue to attract major events and visitors.”

“We thank the NBA–SPIDEL for this choice, which aligns with our efforts under the ARISE Agenda to promote tourism, investment, and intellectual collaboration.”

He disclosed that ongoing projects, including the 5,000-capacity International Convention Centre, the ARISE Resort, and significant upgrades at the Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, are part of his administration’s strategy to position Akwa Ibom as Nigeria’s preferred destination for conferences, leisure, and business.

In his remarks, Prof. Ananaba lauded Governor Eno’s developmental drive and acknowledged the progress Akwa Ibom has made under his leadership.

“Akwa Ibom is one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing destinations,” he said.

“We are delighted to bring the SPIDEL conference here to showcase the state’s growth, innovation, and hospitality.”

Chairperson of the Conference Planning Committee, Uju Agomoh, described the forthcoming event as “a platform for national transformation.”

“This year’s conference will bring together thought leaders and change agents who are passionate about advancing governance, the rule of law, and public interest advocacy in Nigeria,” she said.

Former Akwa Ibom State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Assam Assam (SAN), who chairs the Fundraising, Sponsorship, and Partnerships Subcommittee, also thanked the governor for his support.

“This conference is a major opportunity to showcase Akwa Ibom’s progress, hospitality, and serene environment,” he said.
