The announcement came during a courtesy visit from the Esan Okpa Initiative, led by its president, Mathew Egbadon, to the Government House in Benin City. The delegation, comprised of prominent figures from various sectors, commended Governor Okpebholo for the substantial progress made during his first year in office.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized the importance of starting with language preservation at home and extending it to the education system. He stated that the Ministry of Education has been directed to implement the teaching of Edo languages in schools across the state. - Providing boreholes and toilets to improve sanitation.

Revitalizing Ambrose Alli University
Governor Okpebholo reiterated his commitment to reviving Ambrose Alli University, describing its restoration as a victory for the people. He stated that substantial progress is underway to return the institution to its former glory, ensuring it remains a valuable asset for the state.
Infrastructure Development Across the State
The governor highlighted several key infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and quality of life for Edo residents. These include:
- Extensive road rehabilitation and new construction projects across the state.
- An order for 50 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to enhance public transportation across the three senatorial districts.
- Ongoing work on the Ekpoma–Uromi–Ubiaja Road, with compensation being paid to affected property owners. The governor anticipates that the construction will be accelerated during the dry season, significantly reducing travel time to Auchi.
Strengthening Healthcare Access
In the health sector, Governor Okpebholo noted that 65 primary healthcare centers have been completed or rehabilitated, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to delivering accessible, quality healthcare to every community.
Enhancing Security Measures
Addressing security concerns, Governor Okpebholo outlined his administration's efforts to improve safety across the state. These include:
- Purchasing new equipment for security forces.
- Building a new mobile barracks in the central part of the state.
- Decentralizing security operations.
- Training over 2,000 personnel and placing them on the government payroll.
- Considering engaging local hunters to strengthen community security.
The governor expressed confidence that these measures will significantly reduce security incidents in the state.
