A significant fly tip, considered one of the largest in Britain's history, has been discovered in Oxfordshire, forming a 500ft-long hill of discarded waste, leading activists to criticize it as an "environmental disaster."

A 20-foot-high stack of dangerous wastewas unlawfully disposed of in a field adjacent to the A34 and River Cherwell close to Kidlington in Oxfordshire.

Speaking to MPs on Thursday, he stated: 'Offenders have left a huge amount of unlawful plastic waste... totaling hundreds of tons, in my area of responsibility on a floodplain near the River Cherwell.'

Water levels are increasing, and heat maps indicate that the waste is also becoming warmer, increasing the likelihood of fires.

The Environment Agency mentioned that it has restricted resources for enforcement, noting that the projected cost of removal exceeds the full annual budget of the local district council.

In response, environment minister Mary Creagh stated that Labour took over a "failing" waste system which has led to an "epidemic" of illegal fly-tipping.

A representative from the Environment Agency stated: "Specialist officers are examining waste that was discarded near the A34 in Kidlington. Their responsibility is to identify who disposed of the waste and implement suitable measures."
