Lately, the government increased efforts by integrating mobile courts into these monthly campaigns, facilitating swift trials and penalties for those found not participating in the exercises.
Following this record, the advisor to the Jigawa State Governor on Environmental Issues, Mr. Abdullahi Jahun, during an inspection tour of Babura and Garki Local Government Areas on Friday, revealed stringent measures aimed at starting to impose penalties on all government MDAs, private companies, and industries found responsible for failing to meet environmental sanitation obligations.
The senior advisor mentioned that the tour assessed advancements made during the previous monthly sanitation initiative and energized local leaders to maintain the momentum.
"We will begin charging penalties to all responsible entities—MDAs, private companies, agencies, and sectors for failing in their sanitation responsibilities," Jahun cautioned.
He emphasized the state's unyielding dedication to environmental preservation as essential for public health and a clean community.
Mr. Jahun also urged community organizations and young people to support the sanitation initiatives for their own benefit.
Nevertheless, the advisor, during the inspection process, commended the local council leaders for increasing their efforts, noting that their initiative motivated the committee and the entire state.
While replying, the Chairman of Babura LGA,
Hon. Hamisu Garu expressed appreciation for the visit, stating, “This inspection greatly encourages us – it will greatly boost our efforts towards cleanliness and implement the committee's recommendations.”
He promised that his committee would continue to guide initiatives in hygiene and local development, working together with state actions.
In a similar manner, during the committee's visit to his area, the Chairman of Garki Local Government Council, Hon. Adamu Kore, remarked that "the committee's tour is a genuine encouragement that reinforces our commitment to clean surroundings and effective suggestions."
Kore emphasized how these visits bring together all individuals in the effort to create healthier, waste-free communities, not just within his area but across Jigawa State as a whole.
