"Mr. Economy" Abraham Luzzi Vows Transparent, Digital Leadership for Kampala Central

Abraham Luzzi, widely referred to as "Mr. Economy," and a contender for the position of MP in the Kampala Central Division, has once again expressed his dedication to honesty, responsibility, and long-term leadership.
Commenting on the NBS Barometer on Tuesday, Luzzi, a prominent supporter of fiscal responsibility and practical leadership, highlighted that his campaign centers on transparency and effectiveness in public service, dismissing populist actions and financial rewards.
"It is crucial not to belittle previous leaders; we must provide support instead," Luzzi stated, advocating for cooperation rather than conflict among political individuals.
Dismissing transactional politics, Luzzi, recognized for his humor and candor — and the well-known phrase "Sarah is tall," a lighthearted reference to his wife Sarah Luzzi — stated he would not participate in shallow campaign strategies like purchasing ambulances for political advantage.
"I'm not the type of MP who will purchase ambulances — it is the government's duty to provide essential services, not individual politicians acting as donors," he said.
Luzzi also emphasized his campaign approach that prioritizes digital methods, calling it an effective and health-focused way to connect with voters. "Technology enables me to communicate directly and openly with people in Kampala without interfering with their everyday routines," he mentioned.
A resident of Kampala who has deep ties within the community, Luzzi presents himself as a voice for the common people, not a traditional politician. He has suggested adjusting parliamentary pay, cutting members of parliament's income from Shs 40 million to Shs 10 million, making it fully subject to taxation like other sources of income.
"I desire that the people of Kampala cast their votes for me due to my integrity. Should they not, I will go back to my job. I am familiar with the city and its requirements personally," he added.
Luzzi's approach to Kampala Central emphasizes urban growth, community upliftment, and eco-friendly infrastructure. His plans include resurfacing key roads, setting up effective drainage networks to avoid waterlogging, and introducing solar-powered lights to enhance public security.
He also aims to implement construction regulations, enhance waste disposal via recycling collectives, and encourage eco-friendly efforts by planting trees and conducting environmental education programs.
In addition to infrastructure, Luzzi plans to implement tenant-supportive housing policies, create a National Enterprise Fund to lower youth unemployment, offer scholarships to disadvantaged students, and enhance health centers to provide round-the-clock services.
At the core of his leadership strategy is the Luzzi Constituency Service Centre, a combined online and offline facility aimed at promoting public involvement, addressing local issues, and ensuring effective governance.
Luzzi's campaign is founded on eight key areas including political ethics, fiscal responsibility, effectiveness of the judicial system, city planning, modernization of administration, employment and tax adherence, enforcement of accountability, and a specific strategy for Kampala Central aiming for a unique capital status with targeted financial support.
Born to Hajj Badru Kafuuma from Kakiri Luwaga in Wakiso District and the late Hadijah Nantaba from Gomba District, Luzzi studied at SOS Hermann Gmeiner Schools, Kawempe Muslim, Mityana Secondary, and Lubiri Secondary School. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management from Nkumba University and is currently studying for a Law Degree at Victoria University.
Beyond politics, Luzzi is a thriving businessperson. He established Ssebo Food Industries Uganda Ltd and the Ssebo Pure Gold and Jewelry Center located at Serena Hotel Kampala, with commercial activities spanning the DRC, South Africa, USA, Canada, UK, China, and the UAE.
He also manages a youth sports academy in Hammersmith, London, and previously held the position of Marketing and PR Head at Uganda Police Football Club.
Luzzi started his political career as an NRM organizer in Mityana and Mubende, then ran for the position of MP for Mityana Municipality in 2021, eventually deciding to campaign as an independent candidate in Kampala Central.
With the 2026 General Elections drawing near, he encounters challenges from experienced contenders such as NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, NRM Kampala Minister Minsa Kabanda, UBF President Moses Muhangi, and Suzan Kushaba, who are all competing to replace the outgoing MP Muhammad Nsereko.
Nevertheless, Luzzi's focus on openness, business acumen, and real-world leadership still draws supporters looking for a new, problem-solving approach in Kampala's political scene.
