Ndume Demands Uba's Return 'Dead or Alive'

After the reported Boko Haram/ISWAP attack that resulted in the deaths of two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, and with some soldiers from the North East's 'Operation Hadin Kai' unaccounted for last week, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South) has called on the government and security forces to swiftly recover the Commander of the 25th Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Musa Uba, either alive or dead.

Ndume also urged the government and security agencies to step up their efforts to safely recover all 25 female students from the Government Girls Comprehensive School in Maga, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area, who were taken by terrorists in Kebbi State last Sunday.

The Lawmaker conveyed this in a press release that he personally signed, with a copy provided to our Correspondent in Maiduguri on Thursday.

Remembering that General Uba was taken prisoner after a intense military clash with militants near Wajiroko in Azir Multe, within the Damboa local government area of Borno state.

Although the military authorities in Abuja have denied these allegations, stating that the Commander successfully guided the troops back to base, some unverified video clips have circulated on social media, allegedly released by the terrorists, showing that the kidnapped General was executed this week.

Ndume, the former Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Army, stated that the worsening security conditions linked to banditry, abductions, and terrorism in various regions of the country, particularly in the North West and North East sub-region, demands significant attention and should be tackled in a comprehensive manner.

He emphasized again that retrieving the Brigadier General, either alive or dead, and ensuring the safe rescue of the 25 kidnapped schoolgirls would reduce the level of trauma experienced by their families, friends, and indeed all Nigerians.

I feel obligated to make this statement regarding the kidnapping and location of Brigadier General Musa Uba and the 25 female students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, who were taken by terrorists.

Urge the government and our security agencies to act swiftly in retrieving the Commander of the 25th Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Musa Uba, alive or deceased.

"Thus, retrieving the Brigadier General, either alive or dead, and ensuring the safe rescue of the 25 kidnapped schoolgirls would reduce the level of trauma experienced by their families, friends, and indeed Nigerians," Ndume said.

Praising the efforts of the military and other security forces in combating Boko Haram and other criminal activities, Ndume also requested divine support in the ongoing initiatives by both federal and state governments to put an end to terrorism, abductions, banditry, and other types of crimes throughout the nation.
