With another hectic week coming to an end, the weekend is once more welcoming fans to a variety of sporting events.

Kigali is set to host the initial group stage match of the CAF Champions League.

The sports weekend kicks off on Friday, November 21 at 3pm, as Al Hilal SC hosts MC Alger in what will be the first CAF Champions League game ever held in Kigali.

The game is scheduled to be held at Amahoro Stadium, which serves as the present venue for Al Hilal. Additionally, Al Merreikh has also been given permission to compete in the Rwanda Premier League.

The last time MC Alger competed in Kigali was during their match against Rayon Sports in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage in 2018.

Rwanda Premier League resumes

Football fans will be treated to continuous football action all weekend as Gasogi United FC faces Kiyovu Sports in the opening game of Matchday 8 of the league at Amahoro Stadium at 6:30 pm.

The game will be similar to Al Hilal SC's CAF Champions League encounter against MC Alger at the same venue.

The schedule of matches will proceed on Saturday and Sunday.

One day after APR FC's visit to Musanze FC on Saturday, Rayon Sports' team is likely to differ from what fans have seen recently when they face AS Kigali at Kigali Pelé Stadium.

The comeback of the attacking pairFall Ngagne and Asman NdikumanaInjuries might provide a significant advantage to the team.

Volleyball: Major meeting at Petit Stade

Last week, Petit Stade generated excitement among volleyball enthusiasts as Gisagara VC and APR VC faced off in a fully packed gymnasium. Gisagara is set to return to the court this Friday at 8 pm against Rwanda Energy Group (REG), aiming to bounce back from their unexpected loss to APR.

Earlier in the day, local competitors Police WVC and APR WVC, both remaining undefeated, will compete against each other in the women's volleyball league at 6 pm.

Volleyball league games will move to Ste Famille Gymnasium on Saturday, with the remaining matches from the seventh round taking place. One match to keep an eye on is between East African University Rwanda (EAUR) and Police VC in the men's division.

U17 Amavubi aim for redemption in AFCON qualifier

Following a 2-0 defeat in their opening CECAFA U17 game against host nation Ethiopia, the Rwanda U17 team will look to bounce back when they take on Kenya on Friday, November 21.

Amavubi U17 are placed in Group A with Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, and South Sudan. Group B includes the defending champions Uganda, Tanzania, Djibouti, Sudan, and Burundi. The top two teams from every group will qualify for the semi-finals.

The winners, together with the top two runners-up, will be eligible to compete for the CECAFA Zone at the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Tennis: National Ranking championship

Following the enjoyment of the Rwanda Open in October by tennis enthusiasts, Rwandan athletes are currently competing in the November installment of the National Ranking Championship.

The competition has moved to Cercle Sportif de Kigali starting on November 18 and will continue until Saturday, November 22.

The tournament has now reached its semifinals, with top seed Etienne Niyigena scheduled to face Yannick Muvunyi (5), while No 2 seed Claude Ishimwe will compete against King Onyx Umuhoza, who is ranked 6th.
