Didacus Malowa, a journalist at okay1.co.ke, brings over three years of experience covering politics and current affairs in Kenya.

A spokesperson for Ena Coach has commented following a former driver's public emotional allegations regarding being left behind after a road accident that resulted in the loss of his left arm.

A former driver, who gained attention on TikTok under the name Omonairobi, posted a video detailing the transformation of his life following the incident in Gwoyo on February 17, 2025.

He mentioned that the event occurred during his shift and that he currently faces a lifelong disability, which has made it impossible for him to work or provide for himself.

The driver mentioned that he has frequently visited the company's headquarters without achieving any results, and he thinks the insurance papers provided to him are not valid.

What did Ena Coach Comment on Ondieki's insurance claim?

On Friday, November 14, Ena Investments Limited issued a statement regarding the issue, stating that they have encountered difficulties in assisting him and that they have consistently followed the necessary protocols.

The organization disclosed that the driver, officially named Tom Ondieki, was employed by them for seven months prior to the accident.

A Coach verified that the accident led to an amputation and characterized the subsequent time as difficult for both Ondieki and the organization.

The statement mentions that the driver had insurance coverage and that the company promptly submitted a claim to its insurance provider after he was released from the hospital.

As per Ena Coach, the insurance company examined the case and provided compensation according to their evaluation.

The organization mentioned that the proposal was extended to Ondieki, who rejected it and ceased all further direct contact.

"Ondieki challenged the compensation and asked that all future communications be handled via his attorney, whose information he shared," stated Richard Mogire, Chief Executive Officer of Ena Investments Limited.

Is Ena Coach backing the previous driver?

Ena Coach added that they contacted the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services to confirm that the case was being handled according to the proper legal procedures.

The company stated that the necessary DOSHS forms have been completed and are currently awaiting approval from the driver's treating physician.

It also mentioned that its employees have made efforts to maintain communication with the former driver, noting that it has been a straightforward task.

"Our office has kept consistent communication with Ondieki to help move things forward, although there have been instances where his collaboration was difficult," Mogire noted.

The organization maintained that employee well-being is its highest concern, pointing out that other staff members have undergone comparable procedures in past years and obtained their payments without any issues.

Ena Coach reaffirmed its dedication to making sure Ondieki gets all the entitlements he is owed, provided the legal procedures are finalized.

"We are dedicated to making sure Ondieki gets the justice and assistance he is entitled to. We politely ask Ondieki to keep working with our offices and the appropriate authorities so that this issue can be settled in the most equitable way possible," said Mogire.
