Stoopid Boy praises William Ruto's leadership in freestyle: "Two term"

  • Rapper Stoopid Boy courted controversy after releasing a freestyle praising President Ruto during a city tour, affirming his support for a second term.
  • The artist, who recently left rehab, countered Rigathi Gachagua’s wantam chants with lyrics backing Ruto’s 2027 re-election.
  • Many Kenyans criticised him for abandoning youth struggles, arguing that his praise ignored the joblessness and recurrent protests against the government

Kenyan rapper Stoopid Boy has released an impromptu freestyle in praise of President William Ruto's government.

The current government is considered largely unpopular due to unfulfilled promises to the electorate, the rising police brutality, and the high cost of living, among other issues.

On Thursday, July 17, Ruto was on a city tour during which he opened several projects and reviewed others. A video captured during the tour showed the rapper, who recently left rehab, singing praises to the president.

What did Stoopid Boy say abut Ruto?

Stoopid Boy gained fame for his song "G Baga Jat," but he has yet to replicate its success. In the freestyle, Stoopid Boy affirmed that Ruto would win a second term in office during the 2027 elections. The rapper countered Rigathi Gachagua’s viral “wantam” call, which is derived from ‘one term.’

The clip showed the artist standing next to a vehicle with a public address system, alongside two youths.

"Wanalia ati ngumi ni jamo, lakini mimi bado najua term ni mbibil,
Hawa majamaaa daily wanatupima business yao ni business tumbili,
Niko na Ruto na ni two term, hatuezi enda one term..."

Stoopid Boy then praised Ruto for creating jobs for the youth. His lyrics and message did not sit well with many Kenyans, with some accusing him of betraying his peers.

Here are some of the comments:

Realmichaelbundi:

“Eeh, bro decided to own his name.”

tileh_pacbro:

“Is two hundred shillings something to make you betray us, brother?”

yusufkayus_:

“This is the uncle who, when you buy him a half drink, he praises you for two weeks.”

richkiddwizzy_ke:

“His raps are usually very cheap and shallow—just joining lines. I have never listened to his music.”

gacha9ua:

“He has taken the artistic name seriously.”

msodoki.ke:

“The name says a lot.”

trapp_thee_mc:

“He should have just been locked up in rehab.”

Did Stoopid Boy fall out with Obinna?

In other news, Stoopid Boy accused comedian Oga Obinna of exploiting his rehabilitation journey for personal gain.

The rapper claimed Obinna used his recovery story to market both his digital platform and the rehab centre, without offering him any financial support.

Stoopid Boy alleged that despite Obinna being paid for the partnership, including receiving KSh 450,000 from Australia meant for his welfare, he never saw a single cent.

Instead of being housed as promised, he was allegedly forced to stay with Obinna’s bodyguard. He described the entire rehab experience as a business deal masked as support, filled with fake promises.

Obinna, on the other hand, has distanced himself from the rapper, expressing disappointment and hinting at a possible relapse. The situation started debate online, with fans questioning the intentions behind publicised acts of charity.
