People of Brakwa Call for Unity and Peace for Progress

By J.K Nabary, GNA
Brakwa (C/R), November 12, GNA – The Chief of the Brakwa Community, Nana Osaofori III, has called on his people to support unity and fulfill their duty in building an advanced Community Centre equipped with Information Communication Technology, during the celebration of the Pitanko Festival.
He highlighted that love, peaceful living, and forgiveness ensure the necessary development, and therefore they must collaborate to make the region attractive for investors and other possible developers.
Nana Osaofori offered his guidance during a speech to his community at the Akwesi Dia Kese feast, which took place at his palace in Brakwa. This event marked the beginning of a series of activities planned for the 2025 Pitanko festival, which started on Friday, November 7, with a cleanliness campaign.
It was set to reach its peak on Saturday, November 22, 2025, with a durbar.
The gathering offered important stakeholders, such as Divisional Chiefs, Family leaders, and Asafo representatives, among others, a chance to address matters related to the festival aimed at promoting a peaceful celebration and achieving their objectives.
Brakwa and its neighboring villages must develop, which is why we should utilize this festival and the homecoming event to promote unity within the traditional region by uniting our efforts and valuable skills to shape the area into what we desire.
Nana Osaofori mentioned that festivals serve more than just entertainment, but also provide opportunities for reflection, reuniting, revisiting development strategies, family gatherings, and other similar activities, with each person expected to play their part in ensuring a successful and harmonious event.
I have noticed that peace and progress are the key factors that can help us reach the Promised Land, enabling us to secure the necessary backing from the government and other involved parties to make this location a perfect option.
Disputes will damage our communities, so I call on all of us to unite as one people with a shared future, showing love for each other to assist in constructing Brakwa.
He also urged everyone residing in the region to confirm or check any information prior to sharing it, in order to prevent the spread of false details, and to be courageous in asking for clarification regarding matters related to the town.
If you are unable to confirm a fact, avoid presenting it as an established truth, as it is preferable to acknowledge doubt rather than propagate lies. Therefore, we must implement these strict evaluations, establish trustworthiness, and work to stop the spread of false information, thereby creating a more reliable information landscape.
Young people should also avoid participating in harmful actions that might disrupt their future and spoil the charm of the celebration.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Nana Nkongua (Stool Chief) stated that the Akwesi Dia Kese festival is celebrated every year on the final Sunday of their calendar, preceding the Pitanko festival.
It is said that their ancestors, during their difficult journey and establishment, offered the 'black stool' to their god every year since 1783.
He therefore urged all the sons and daughters of the Brakwa community to come back home and participate in the celebration to make it unforgettable.
Later, when engaging with some individuals, they mentioned that Brakwa, a rural community located in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district, faces numerous development issues, particularly the poor condition of the road systems connecting Odoben and Breman Asikuma to the town, which hinders the movement of both people and agricultural produce.
He requested the government's assistance in enhancing the roads to ensure the free flow of goods and services.
