TikTok Unveils 2025 Sub-Saharan Africa Award Nominations, Launches Voting Portal

The 2025 Sub-Saharan Africa Awards voting is currently open, with the deadline set for 14 November 2025 (midnight CAT), enabling participants to submit one vote per category daily.

The 2025 TikTok Awards for Sub-Saharan Africa are returning to celebrate the creators, performers, and influencers who have shaped our feeds throughout 2025.

The TikTok Awards recognize the most influential and motivating content creators throughout Sub-Saharan Africa each year. The upcoming ceremony will showcase the remarkable methods our creators have used to interact with, motivate, and bring together people both within and beyond the TikTok platform.

Held on 6 December 2025 in Johannesburg, the evening will be packed with performances, artistic expression, and motivation, showcasing talents from throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

This year will be recalled as one in which African artists chose not to conform to expectations.

From the sound of BhadBoi OML'Wasiu Ayinde' on loop, the energy of theNgishutheni' dance trend to the intensity of#CorporateTok, and ShallipopiUnforgettable songs, TikTok is honoring the talent of creators who have transformed 60 seconds into a phenomenon.

2025 edition

In a statement released on Wednesday, TikTok mentioned that 2025 will be recognized as the year when niche content reached the mainstream, community turned into a valuable asset, and creators flourished as trendsetters.

The accolades represent yet another method through which TikTok keeps encouraging and motivating Africa's content creators, enabling them to succeed, expand, and turn their interests into lasting professions. The 2025 version will honor creators in multiple content areas, such as cuisine, entertainment, athletics, learning, melodies, and narrative art.

"Our yearly honors serve as a time for contemplation and joy, allowing us to strengthen bonds with those who drive the continent forward. At the heart of the TikTok awards is the recognition of the lively community that keeps inspiring innovation, fostering connections, and sharing happiness on the platform, while transforming their interests into successful professions," states Boniswa Sidwaba, Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa.

TikTok has revealed that the voting process for the 2025 Sub-Saharan Africa Awards is currently active and will remain open until 14 November 2025 (midnight CAT), enabling users to submit one vote per category daily. To take part, users need to follow the platform's official accounts and promote their selections by using the hashtag #TikTokAwardsSSA.
