Nollywood stars Taye Arimoro and Peggy Ovire have exchanged claims after a fiery clash on a film location that allegedly turned into a violent fight.
Taye, who live-streamed portions of the event onInstagram, stated that the conflict started when he tried to depart from the set after his scheduled work hours had concluded.
He claimed that Peggy and her team reportedly prevented him from departing, obstructed his car, and ruined the tires of his vehicle.
"I mentioned I want to return home, but they aren't allowing it. You're keeping me against my wishes, and that's not acceptable. Why did you block me? Am I not allowed to go back to my house? Why? I'm not filming two scenes. I've told you, if it's 12 p.m., I'm leaving," he said.
Taye also claimed they physically attacked him, causing damage to his gums and lips. The actor called the event unheard of in his professional experience, stating his intention to pursue legal action against the actress and the production team.
"I definitely need to visit a dentist since my lower front tooth is damaged, and I'm also meeting with a lawyer. I can't drive my car because they let air out of three of my tires. It's really serious. I've never been through anything like this before because I don't create problems, especially at work," he said.
Peggy Ovire
In reply, Peggy refuted the claims in an Instagram post, stating that Taye was the one who initiated the conflict. She claimed that the actor confronted crew members following a request to film two more scenes to conclude the day's shoot.
Taye, you attacked two crew members just because you thought they didn't have a voice, no online following, and no one advocating for them. They were only asking you to finish two brief scenes so we could conclude the night.
A short while later, you went live to capture their response, omitting the section where the violence started. No one should be treated in such a manner, particularly those who are simply fulfilling their duties.
"Taye, you arrived that day around 12 p.m., a detail you intentionally omitted from your account. We continued filming until late at night, and without any previous conversation, you gathered your things and announced you were leaving," Peggy said.
Alleged physical assault
The actress added that Taye turned hostile when she tried to ease the tension and eventually attacked the production manager.
Everything was okay between us until you became upset when I suggested we film one quick scene before your BTS video, since the car we were using had to be taken away. You responded angrily when I tried to speak with you, so I chose to give you some room.
Later, when the production manager came to you asking for additional time, you became physically aggressive towards him. That was entirely unforeseen.
"When I came out, you were fighting over the car keys. I tried to get involved and asked you to please relax and give me the keys, but you drove away while I was still next to the car," she said.
Peggy mentioned that the circumstances worsened when her chauffeur was reportedly involved, resulting in a struggle that caused injury to her driver.
"Shortly after, I found my driver bleeding from his ear following repeated hits. I was stunned. I headed to the gate to stop things from getting worse," she stated.
